PT Ferron Par Pharmaceuticals, in collaboration with the Indonesian Society of Endocrinology (PERKENI), held the Cardio-Vascular Metabolic (CVM) Summit titled “1st Ferron CVM Summit.” During the event, Ferron launched its latest anti-diabetes product, Fliptin.

The event was attended by Dexa Group CEO, Mr. Ferry Soetikno; Dexa Group President Commissioner, Mrs. Gracianti Soetikno; Molecular Pharmacologist and also Dexa Group’s Business Development and Scientific Affairs Director, Prof. Raymond R. Tjandrawinata; Professor and Specialist in Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes, Prof. Sidartawan Soegondo, Sp.PD-KEMD; PERKENI Chairman, Prof. Ketut Suastika; and Chairman of PERKENI and the Indonesian Society of Internal Medicine (PAPDI) Makassar branch, Prof. Andi Makbul Aman. Acting Director of Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Control from the Ministry of Health, Dr. Theresia Sandra Diah Ratih, MH, also attended, representing the Vice Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Dante Saksono, Ph.D.

In his opening speech at the Titan Center Bintaro on Saturday (July 6, 2024), Mr. Ferry Soetikno emphasized the increasing population of Indonesia and the corresponding rise in the number of patients. Therefore, he highlighted the importance of the collaboration between PERKENI and Dexa Group for public health.

“Our commitment is to provide high-quality products that meet market needs consistently,” said Mr. Ferry during his speech.

He also stated that the Indonesian pharmaceutical industry is capable of competing globally. This has been proven by the success of Indonesian Modern Original Medicines (OMAI) competing internationally.

Dr. Theresia Sandra Diah Ratih from the Ministry of Health then elaborated on the National Health Transformation. She explained that diabetes has become a global epidemic, making it a priority issue for the Ministry of Health.

In her explanation, she noted that 3 out of 4 diabetes patients are unaware of their condition, and only 30% of those who know about it seek regular treatment. This leads to severe complications such as heart disease, kidney failure, blindness, and other organ complications, thereby reducing the quality of life.

“We are tasked with providing comprehensive treatment, including education, to control the number of diabetes patients. This is a collective responsibility that we must achieve,” she said.

Launching of Fliptin, a Low-Hypoglycemia Risk Anti-Diabetes Drug

During the event, Ferron launched Fliptin, which contains the active ingredient Sitagliptin. Sitagliptin is efficacious in improving glycemic profiles with a low risk of hypoglycemia. Fliptin is bioequivalent to the originator and is taken once daily, enhancing patient adherence to medication.

In the panel discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Andi Makbul Aman, SpPD, K-EMD, FINASIM, Prof. Raymond Tjandrawinata discussed the main issues in the development of diabetes, primarily caused by the continuously evolving insulin resistance that often goes unnoticed. He noted that insulin-resistance drugs are now fewer and usually considered outdated.

“Due to the current human revolution, we need to examine more over time as our epigenetics evolve constantly, making it insufficient to rely solely on old methods like reducing sugar intake,” explained Prof. Raymond.

Prof. Ketut Suastika and Prof. Sidartawan Soegondo also stressed the importance of interdisciplinary and inclusive care for diabetics. The discussion underscored the necessity of collaboration for patient health.

The “1st Ferron CVM Summit” was attended by hundreds of doctors from PERKENI. Ferron also set up a Smart Pharma Company booth, showcasing the technology in Ferron’s production facilities. Additionally, booths featured PT Ferron Par Pharmaceuticals’ flagship products, such as Glumin XR, Fonylin MR, Telsat, Rosufer, Ezefer, PGB, and others.
