Based on the results of the Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) survey by the Association of Indonesian Ophthalmologists (Perdami) and the Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 15 provinces in Indonesia in 2020, there were 1.6 million people suffering from blindness and 81.2 percent or 1.3 million people suffer from cataracts. The high number of cataract patients in Indonesia is estimated to continue to increase, including in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

In relation to this, Dexa Group, through Dharma Dexa and Argon Peduli, held a community service entitled Cataract Surgery to See More Clearly and Greening the Environment at RSUP dr. Ben Mboi Kupang. This cataract surgery social service is aimed at the community in East Nusa Tenggara Province in collaboration with the Central General Hospital (RSUP) dr. Ben Mboi and Perdami NTT Province, at RSUP dr. Ben Mboi, Kupang, NTT, on Friday, March 8 2024.

Acting Governor of NTT Mr. Ayodhia GL Kalake expressed his appreciation to all parties involved and initiated efforts to improve the level of health for the people of Kupang.

“We hope that this good initiative can continue in the future and that patients who have participated in cataract surgery can maintain their health. “Apart from that, on this morning’s occasion, reforestation was carried out in the form of planting trees in the hospital area,” said Mr. Ayodhia.

Main Director of the Central General Hospital (RSUP) dr. Ben Mboi Kupang dr. Annas Achmad conveyed the high number of cataracts not only in Kupang, but also almost everywhere.

“Patients can see much brighter, much better. We express our highest appreciation to Dexa Group, Perdami NTT Province. We hope that the collaboration between the NTT Provincial Government, Dexa Group, then Perdami, Ben Mboi Hospital, and WZ Johannes Hospital, can run regularly every year. “We hope that Dexa Group will come again next year, to help the people of Kupang who suffer from cataracts,” explained Dr. Annas.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Medela Potentia, Mr. Krestijanto Pandji, added that social service as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is widely carried out in various regions. “This is the first time in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. “Hopefully today’s event can be successful and collaboration with hospitals will continue in the future,” said Mr. Krestijanto.

After opening the event, Acting Governor, Main Director of RSUP dr. Ben Mboi, and the Dexa Group Directors carried out symbolic tree planting in the Dr. RSUP area. Ben Mboi. Dexa Group donated 155 flamboyant trees which function as environmental reforestation and environmental beauty at RSUP dr. Ben Mboi.
