The quality of generic medicines can be demonstrated both through the production process and through the trust placed in them by healthcare professionals who use them in their practice. Building on this commitment, PT Dexa Medica presented “OGB Merah, A Reflection of Quality Generic Medicine” at the HISFARSI 2026 National Scientific Meeting and Working Conference (PIT & Mukernas) to strengthen pharmacists’ understanding of generic drug quality while supporting a culture of patient safety.
Held in Pekanbaru, Riau, from 25–27 June 2026, the forum adopted the theme “Building a Safer Healthcare System: The Pharmacist’s Role in Digital and Performance Innovation” and was attended by 1,176 hospital pharmacists from across Indonesia. The event served as a collaborative platform for regulators, professional organizations, academics, the pharmaceutical industry, and healthcare institutions to strengthen the transformation of pharmaceutical services.
In his keynote address, Prof. Taruna Ikrar, Head of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), emphasized that medicine regulation is no longer viewed solely as a matter of regulatory compliance but has become an integral part of the patient safety system.
“Medicine oversight must be carried out in an integrated manner, covering pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, pharmaceutical service facilities, and ultimately the use of medicines by patients. Pharmacists play a strategic role in ensuring that the medicines patients receive are safe, of high quality, effective, and used appropriately,” said Prof. Taruna Ikrar.
According to Prof. Taruna, strengthening the pharmacovigilance system, fostering a culture of adverse drug reaction reporting, and preventing medication errors require close collaboration among all stakeholders. Within this ecosystem, hospital pharmacists play a central role in monitoring therapy, identifying medication-related risks, preventing medication errors, and educating patients.
Echoing this perspective, Ruslan M. Rauf, Chairman of the Indonesian Hospital Pharmacists Association (PP HISFARSI), highlighted that collaboration among regulators, professional organizations, academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and healthcare facilities forms the foundation for building a patient safety-oriented healthcare system.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices at Indonesia’s Ministry of Health, Rizka Andalucia, stressed that the transformation of pharmaceutical services must increasingly focus on leveraging technology and innovation to generate greater health value for patients. She noted that pharmacists occupy a strategic position to ensure that this transformation genuinely translates into improved healthcare service quality.
OGB Merah Strengthens Trust Through Education
In line with this transformation, PT Dexa Medica introduced OGB Merah, the Reflection of Quality Generic Medicines, as an educational platform designed to strengthen pharmacists’ understanding of the quality of generic medicines and the importance of medication safety in pharmaceutical practice.
This commitment was reflected in a scientific symposium featuring Ms. Dwi Nofiarny (Mrs. Evi), Head of Corporate Quality Audit & Pharmacovigilance at Dexa Group, who delivered a presentation on Look-Alike Sound-Alike (LASA) medicines—products with similar names or packaging that may increase the risk of medication errors. During her presentation, Mrs. Evi emphasized that patient safety must be embedded throughout the entire pharmaceutical value chain, from research and development to manufacturing and distribution. This commitment is further reinforced through the implementation of pharmacovigilance practices and the development of human-centered packaging design to help minimize the risk of medication errors.
Complementing the scientific session, an interactive booth themed “OGB Merah, A Reflection of Quality Generic Medicine” drew significant attention from participants. Hundreds of pharmacists took part in a range of educational activities, including digital games, interactive quizzes, and knowledge challenges on proper therapy and drug use—covering products such as Azithromycin injection, Calcitriol, and Deferiprone. Through this interactive approach, PT Dexa Medica delivered a learning experience that reinforced the conviction that quality generic medicines play a vital role in supporting safe, high-quality healthcare services.
This innovative educational initiative earned PT Dexa Medica the 1st Place Best Booth Award at the 2026 PIT & Mukernas HISFARSI. The award recognizes the company’s success in delivering educational programs that are innovative, interactive, and highly relevant to pharmacy professionals.
