Indonesia’s 29th National Family Day (Harganas) was celebrated with the theme “Let’s Prevent Stunting for Stunting-Free Family”. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the government had appointed the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) to reduce the prevalence of stunting to 14% in 2024. Therefore, BKKBN collaborates with several partners, including Dexa Group.
“In commemoration of the 29th National Family Day, I invite all the nation’s forces to move forward and work together to reduce stunting and all of its root causes so we can prepare the quality of human resources for our next generation. Indeed we really need to be prepared,” said President Jokowi at Harganas Commemoration in Merdeka Square, Medan, North Sumatra, Thursday (7/7/2022).
The President also reminded all stakeholders to collaborate to achieve this target. Stunting prevention, said the President, must be done from the family level. The President said that the family is the first and foremost ecosystem in nurturing, educating, and forming healthy, nutritious, and quality human beings.
In line with the President, the Head of BKKBN, Dr. Hasto Wardoyo, emphasized the importance of the role of the family in preventing stunting. Harganas is a moment of reflection and appreciation for the important role of the family in building quality Indonesian human resources, said the Head of the BKKBN.
“I would like to say my gratitude to all the amazing partners in supporting to reducing stunting,” said dr. Hasto.
To promote exclusive breastfeeding as a part of stunting prevention, BKKBN collaborates with Dexa Group to provide education for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers by involving midwives. A total of 2,932 midwives have been involved in the program ‘Education with Midwives in the First 1,000 Days of Life’.
“We are very committed to helping the stunting reduction program, following one of Dexa Group’s core values, namely Deal with Care. Together with the BKKBN, this program conducted education in 251 districts/cities in 32 provinces. A total of 12 provinces in Indonesia among them are priority areas for handling stunting by the government,” said Dexa Group Corporate Affairs Mr. Krestijanto Pandji.
At this event, Dexa Group built Rumah ASI HerbaAsimor, where pregnant and breastfeeding mothers can consult with their midwives to prevent stunting. Rumah ASI HerbaAsimor is equipped with scales and measuring tools for a baby’s height and important information about stunting prevention for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
HerbaAsimor is a product that can help increase the quality and quantity of breast milk. HerbaAsimor was developed by Dexa Group through research by Dexa Laboratories of Biomolecular Sciences (DLBS). HerbaAsimor uses Indonesia’s natural ingredients that are processed with modern technology. The materials used are torbangun leaves, katuk leaves, and cork fish.
Katuk leaves provide a significant increase in the expression of prolactin and oxytocin genes, which are hormones that play an essential role in the breastfeeding process so that they can increase milk production. Meanwhile, torbangun leaves can increase prolactin levels, epithelial cell activity, and metabolism of the mammary glands so that milk production increases by 65% without changing the nutritional quality of milk.
These ingredients are added with Striatin, a bioactive fraction of Channa striata or snakehead fish that can speed up the healing process after a cesarean section, speed up recovery and strength of post-partum women, and strengthen the immune system.
“HerbaAsimor is processed with AFT technology, which is a technology to find specific fractions that produce products with high purity and biological activity,” said Director of Research & Business Development Dexa Group Dr. Raymond Tjandrawinata.
President Director of PT Dexa Medica, Mr. V Hery Sutanto, explained that currently, Asimor is consumed by breastfeeding mothers in 32 provinces and more than 250 districts/cities in Indonesia. The benefits of HerbaAsimor are felt by breastfeeding mothers by increasing the quality and quantity of breast milk. Based on research on consumers by PT Dexa Medica, 8 out of 10 breastfeeding mothers feel the benefits of HerbaAsimor.
“HerbaAsimor was developed from Indonesian biodiversity, so it has a Domestic Component Level/TKDN above 80 percent. This is also in line with the government’s mission to realize national pharmaceutical independence,” said Mr. V. Hery.
